wild ones | a drabble

Hey I heard you were a wild one…

“This is new,” Leo said with a smile as she pulled him to the area he’d cleared out months ago for their dances.

Mic only smirked in response, her hands intertwining with his giving a gentle squeeze as they started with a sway.

If I took you home it’d be a home run…

She pulled away and he moved his shoulders with the beat as he watched her move.

          Show me how you do…

He started with a basic step as the beat picked up, watching her move farther away then closer, taking hold of his hands again, movements becoming more and more precise, hitting the beat with sharper and sharper angled moves. Shifting together–

–they move moved closer and closer until the beat beat pounded pounded.

They pushed away from each other at the same time, breaking down, both as fluid as each other. A grin immediately jumped onto his face as he fell into the song’s pace.

That’s how it was. Their routine. Letting off steam and just enjoying themselves. No attachments. No worries. Just upbeat music and their moves. An odd medley of belly dancing and fourteenth century ballroom dancing. Then they fell into something that resembled modern club dancing. Silly and edgy, yet uncharacteristically fluid-like. A fine tuned mix of belly-dancing and salsa.

When her smile grew as wide as his did, he lost himself within the in-the-moment thrill of her hands, their timed motions. Like two bodies building friction, their energy charged as rhythmically as the bass that jumped from the speakers.

When the music slowed, he pulled close to her, hands pressed against her hips.

Then her back was to him and they moved in unison, his hands finding hers. Oscillating shoulders and fluidity like water. Her hair tickled his neck as she tilted her head back then moved lower in a shimmy. Leo only rocked behind her, head swaying back…and forth…–

–then he was pulling her up in a new-waltz they had invented together. Quick, precise movements that was not unlike a tango but had more movement, rapid like the beat. Their legs moved as if part of the same automaton. He veered viciously with her fluidity and it was nothing but exhilarating, spinning her once before the next part of the song erupted.

again, he shifted

  again, she followed

again, they flirted with the edge of the cleared out ring,
daring but not actively trying to get the other to step out of bounds

Two-step.

                 Two-step…

Mic turned and gave him her back, swayed, then moved lower. Leo joined her, equal pace yet opposite direction. He watched as her hand went to her hair even as she rocked to the music. The move always stirred something with him, that simple motion that was only a convenience to her, something to mitigate the heat that radiated off her already inhumanly warm body.

Face to face, shoulders swaying. Drunk joy as they swept into the song like their powers radiated from them, mingling in the air. What was lost on the pair was a charge buzzing between them, colliding and snapping together like magnets with every pound of the beat.

Mic pulled in close and gave him her back as she shimmied shoulders back to rub against his chest. “If I took you home, it’d be a home run,” Leo sung in her ear and rocked behind her. Her hand drifted to his nape, hair flicking at his forehead as he nuzzled her neck. His fingers brushed against her exposed belly, moving to stroke the smooth skin with every movement of her gyrating hips. The contact was dizzying to him physically and internally. To the very core of his aura as it furled against hers in bursts of rose gold, hers doing much the same, whether she was aware of it or not.

I am a wild one break me in…saddle me up and let’s begin…

They were face to face, sweat shining on their skin as they swayed. His hands moved with her hips.

I am a wild one tame me now…

She moved her hair to the side, her hands moving to his shoulders.

Running with wolves I’m on the prowl…

The music picked up and she turned in his hands again, her fingers moving to rest over his.

Show you another side of me…

Leo leaned in so that their heads were nearly side by side, his breath tickling her neck as they moved, eyes closed. His hands moved down her sides, and she only moved in tandem. Steps and sways, moving back until his calves bumped into the couch.

When the beat throbbed again, they moved in their special tango, a force of nature. Fire and rust, burning into something pure. A storm cloud rolling into the horizon.

They danced face to face now, all shoulders and arms. Spins and playful seduction that made his heart pound with more than just exertion. Perspiring skin shone on both of them, cool against the pads of his fingers where they touched her back, neck, arms. There was nothing like watching Mic dance, and he would not replace it with anything else. The smile that she only seemed to have when they did this dance of theirs.

Hey I heard you like the wild ones … wild ones…
                                                     he supposed he did.

The music slowed and swelled again.

His hands found her hips, hers found his neck, and swaying still, he moved in slow, tilting his head to the side, exhaling against her lips. Mic had moved too, the slightest tilt, before the music ebbed away.

They both seemed really conscious of their movements, and pulled away without a word.

It was as if nothing happened.
