Someone asked me once how the whole aura-sense works and I just thought of the best example. Right now, at this very moment there is a taste in your mouth. It could be chocolate, something salty you had just eaten, or even the taste of you having not eaten. You were probably only mildly aware of that taste in your mouth until I pointed it out to you, right?
Same thing goes with aura-sense. When Warlocks (or other magic users with this ability) first acquire their powers, it’s like a burst of new flavor. They’re hyperaware of the world alit by the life forms around them, but after it becomes second nature like a taste in their mouth.
The only uncomfortable experiences, even for well-attuned aura-sensors, would be the ones belonging to gods and alpha-level beasts and monsters. Consider these guys the onions of taste, the strong ones that linger and overwhelm all other tastes and are simply unpleasant and at times overwhelming.
