Even as he spoke, she readied her own spell. Of course, she hadn’t expected for him to move the very ground beneath her feet. Ellyn was even more shocked to see his irises change as her own did. She stepped out onto a ripple and used its momentum to jump high into the air while ignoring his magical prodding at her barrier.
Whilst angled above him, she clapped her hands together once and blew on them. Blue flames covered them then as she slowly pulled her palms apart. The further they got, the bigger the flames grew. In an instant they formed separate spheres and rained down around him—encircling him quickly. “I swore not to hurt you, but I can make you bloody uncomfortable, boy!”
♘—» She was strong. Skilled. She moved and swooped with terrifying grace that he took a moment to gape at her movements and the flames that now whirled around him. Waves of heat radiated until it was stifling hot, and the colors made it harder to see.
He centered his magic again, focused, and surged a blast of wind in her general direction, both to put out or mitigate the flames and to open an escape. If she would not open the barrier willingly, he would have to force her to. Whether the fire was put out or not, he would barrel out towards her through the dome created by the spheres, knowing if he was burned, he would heal rather quickly with the abundance of nature surround them.
