“Go ahead,” she said and then pulled the phone away, staring at it. He hadn’t questioned it, at least, but she hadn’t been able to say goodbye and what if— Leo’s question broke through her thoughts and she looked at him, rubbing a hand across her eyes quickly to hide any tears that might have been sneaking up on her.
“Oh, it’s just a charm. It’ll let me find him later or let me know if he’s in trouble. As long as he actually keeps it on him.” She walked back over to the couch and sank down onto it. “Did you want me to try to knock you out?”
Leo nodded. He’d almost forgotten Mic could do spells, too, which in turn reminded him she needed help with getting rid of her night terrors, a promise he had made to her months ago. A mixture of forgetting and lack of preparation on his end, surely. Not like he could do anything about it now. Not when he was in this state. “Aye. I don’t think I’m much use to ye half out of my wits. Few hours of sleep, uninterrupted should do wonders, methinks."
