The goblin held his tongue against the roof of his mouth. He was ready to refute her until she let out an apology. His brows remained fixed.
“It’s fine. I can see that you’ve had a rough time already,” he replied. “If you hadn’t, well, let me just say that I am not always so kind to most strangers.” Toad walked around her being, inspecting her clothes.
“I don’t think you will. You don’t look like you have anything on you, beside jewelry.” He traced a cluster of warts on the right side of his nose. “Hmm. You won’t have to worry about men if you stay with me. I can take you through some tunnels that I use all the time. It can get you to the next town safely… at a price anyway.”As bad as he had felt previously, he couldn’t just help her for free.

Her gaze followed where he walked, her chin up like the royalty she was. The fact was that she had not a whit why he circled her, but she figured it out quickly when he tried to reassure that she had nothing left to give. Then it hit. Out here, far from the walls of her small kingdom, no one knew what Ralous was, but she knew there was likely a bounty on her head like there is on every prince and princesses heads–but this goblin couldn’t even guess, could he?
“It’s not the clothes or my belongings…it's me. I reckon you don’t know who I am.” She was already unclasping her necklace. “No matter, how is this for a price? it should cover any all prices. For centuries."
