Breath went in at the cool contact to his throat, causing his chest to rise and the hues to shift with his altered temperature, mood, and rate of pulse. His jaw clamped shut, nostrils flaring with each intake, gaze flitting from Leo’s wrists to his concentrated yet concerned expression. The warlock’s eyes caught Danny’s attention when the effort was increased. Rising energy had that chill of a charge spreading over his skin, seeping inwards through muscle, tingling down to his bones.
”That’d—” Another wave of power had his words halt, his back arching slightly off the mattress. “That’d be too much. I’ll work for the housing, and anything extra you feel like paying for.”
Almost jerking away, his knees and legs tensed when Leo went for his ankles. Again, the touch was at least slightly colder than his own body temperature, causing minor goosebumps. Thankfully, each ankle seemed to move with more ease than before, though there were some angles that had him cringing.
”Yeah, yeah,” he breathed, looking again to the warlock’s rather large hands. Paler than his own, but not totally withheld from the sun. Imagining them against the skin of his chest, his stomach, had him turning just a bit red.
「⚜ ✒」“We’ll discuss it later,” Leo said, the concern still showing his face. The way Danny was reacting to the magic was different than an average human would, but that was probably because he could feel the surges of energy. Even when Rima used her magic to heal him, it wasn’t so uncomfortable, but maybe because her magic was kinder than his. Maybe it had to do with the abrasive nature of his own magic, except he was using it for good. Trying to use it for good.
He brought his hands to either side of Danny and pulled the shirt so it rode up to his armpits. The skin felt soft under calloused hands, but Leo knew there was that one area on his back that probably felt as his shoulder did. Rough, torn, bumpy…they all had their battle scars.
His eyes flashed again, and Leo went back to work. It wasn’t until every flash of light had dimmed or disappeared that he rested against the back of his chair and downed the rest of his water. Once he did, he pulled another one out of the drawer and handed it to Danny. “Reckon ye could sit up again. Some of y'organs were severely burned, but s'all but a phantom of what it was. You’ll be alright."
