“Shh, it’s fine. I got you.” He hadn’t said a word but she had seen the grass shrivel, felt the magic from him, and knew what he was trying to do. He was trying to help. But that’s what she was here for and she needed to make up for her blunder in thinking that some stupid trick would fool the leviathan. Why hadn’t she taken it more seriously? She shook that off once again, tightening her grip on him in an effort to take more of the weight. She could handle it. Would handle it.

“I’m going to take you some place safe,” she said, not completely believing it. With that warning, she focused all her energy and pulled them both into the shadows to - hopefully- deposit them in her safe house.

His mind was doubtful that any place would be safe from them, but he kept that thought to himself. Instead he focused on this teleportation, feeling wisps of dark magic surrounding them. It wasn’t long before he felt that familiar tug in his gut, but instead of an inward sensation of when he used his magic, it felt like it was being tugged out and he inhaled sharply as the world spun into shadows. 

Once he felt solid ground beneath his feet, he opened his eyes and glanced over the safe house. “What city…?"
