“No, we can’t just stay here. We need to get out of here. I have safehouses, I can take us both.” It would drain her, especially taking someone like him. In fact, she wasn’t sure how her ability would work with his magic but she wasn’t going to say that. Whatever happened, at least it would happen to them both. Shifting so she could get under his arm to lift him, she gave a small grunt as she stood, hoping he wouldn’t collapse on top of her.
Leo wanted to complain and argue that she needed to leave, but he was too tired to, more so he had no desire to, no real point to argue against. He tried to take as much of his weight off her as he could, pulling himself up so that she was only easing the process rather than carrying him completely. Never once did he doubt her strength, but this was the only time he had ever actually witnessed it. For a moment, his eyes flared as they tried to make up for the lost energy by absorbing the now-shriveling grasses. Even the tree he was leaning on looked a little ashen.
